It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her newest gem.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out the team required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
