Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the party access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
